From LFW to Scottish Wedding Show, last weekend myself and our Rosa Grace team had a ball styling hair for the catwalk show in Glasgow.
19 models (13 girls and 6 boys) all to be prepped and ready in 2.5hours for the first of three shows starting at 11.30am!!
Our philosophy at Rosa Grace is always to bring out the best in our clients and we stayed true to that at the Scottish Wedding Show. We keep the vibe really fresh and fashion-led, a less is more attitude creating individual looks bespoke to each model.
With styling products from my session hero Neil Moodie of the Windle and Moodie brand (I regularly assisted Neil for Burberry and Margaret Howell catwalk shows back in the day) we prepped the hair with matt texture spray at the roots and mountains of light satin shine spray through the mid lengths and ends.
Tools were essentials of two sizes of WAM tong and the Dyson supersonic with diffuser.
Valerie was always going to be a classic hollywood babe alongside Lauren who loved her hair days after the show! Iona had the most adorable hairline with her baby curls so we used no heat on her but matt texturising spray and sea salt spray in preparation for her modern up do. Issy has an incredible natural wave so we worked in some texture cream to really accentuate it.
Mhairi, well all that hair! We loved giving her a volumous braid, so fresh and cool just like her (she is a dj too!). Mercedes and Nikita were whimsical, their natural hair but more refined was all they needed, a touch of less in more.
Chloe who opened the show wearing Vera Wang wore a textured braid in her hair. Stunning and fierce just like her...Linda was so statuesque she could carry an editorial look both days as was Olivia with her classic centre parting and low pony.
Romy was a joy with her side parting and her textured pony tail. Shannon and Adriana killed the catwalk with their relaxed up dos.
Each girl had her own vibe and I hope we gave them a bit of their own personality for the catwalk that wasn't your average bridal look.
It was fast paced backstage between shows but those girls glided on stage like they were on fresh air, proper professionals!
As for the boys, well I am not going to lie they pretty much tended to themselves but they got a good helping of Volcanic Ash Wax and Light Satin Hairspray between shows.
Backstage session styling requires a lot of preparation and planning, a strong team (we had the best!) working at a fast pace...... and a bloody good sense of humour!
